Entry-Level Police Officer - Position Information
SALARY: $76,232.60
Minimum Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- 21 years of age and no more than 35 years of age at time of application, unless exempt by statute
- Valid Driver’s License
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must have at least 30 credit hours of college credit from an accredited university (copy of official transcripts due at the time of application)
- 20/70 binocular vision correctable to 20/20 and not be color blind
- Submit proof of having passed the IL POWER test.
Candidates who achieve a passing score on the written examination will be required to present a valid POWER test card to the Department shortly after.
Applicants are encouraged to submit a copy of a valid POWER test card with their application.

Police Officers must reside within a twenty-mile radius of South Holland’s Village Hall or a municipality whose border is touched by a twenty-mile radius, within one (1) year of employment. If a municipality’s border is touched by the twenty-mile radius, it shall allow for that police officer to live within that entire municipality (i.e., the city of Chicago is touched by a twenty-mile radius from South Holland Village Hall, therefore an officer may live anywhere within the city of Chicago)
- Be of high moral standards and personal integrity and habits based upon contemporary Village standards, as determined by the Police Department
- Be free of any felony convictions, or misdemeanor criminal convictions as specified in 65 ILCS, Section 5-1-7 of the IL Revised Statutes
- Be able to pass a written and Ergometric exam, POWER test, oral interview, background investigation, psychological, polygraph, and medical examination.

- Confirmed online application
- Consent and release agreement
- Residency Acknowledgment and Training Reimbursement Acknowledgment
- Copy of high school diploma/GED
- Copy of official college transcripts indicating attainment of 30 credit hours
- Copy of valid driver’s license
- Copy of social security card
- Copy of birth certificate as proof of citizenship
- Optional Copy of POWER test card – due shortly after passing the written exam. Applicants are encouraged to turn in a copy of this item along with their application
- Copy of Military DD-214 (if applicable)
Mandatory ONLINE Exam:

Candidates must enroll for the mandatory online exam. Exact details regarding the login and password will be provided to eligible candidates at a later date.
All portions of the testing process are mandatory. Failure to successfully complete any portion of the test will result in elimination from employment consideration.
