SHPD – Part-Time Police Officer

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a United States Citizen
- Must be between the ages of 21 and 43
- 30 credit hours of College from an accredited university
- Must be able to provide validated evidence of successful completion and certification from an approved part-time police academy
- Part-time police officers shall be trained in accordance with the Illinois Police Training Act (50 ILCS 705/1 et. seq.) and the rules and requirements of the ILETSB
- Part-time police officers must have been employed as a municipal, county, university, or state law enforcement officer
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- 20/70 binocular vision correctable to 20/20 and not be color blind
- Be of high moral standards and display personal integrity and habits based upon the Village’s values and standards
- Be free of any felony convictions, or misdemeanor criminal convictions as specified in 65 ILCS 5/10-1-7 of the Illinois Revised Statutes
- Must speak, read and write the English language fluently
- Must be able to fully disclose all personnel matters including any agreements and any sealed files
- Police Officers must reside within a twenty-mile radius of South Holland’s Village Hall or a municipality whose border is touched by a twenty-mile radius, within one (1) year of employment. If a municipality’s border is touched by the twenty-mile radius, it shall allow for that police officer to live within that entire municipality (i.e. The city of Chicago is touched by a twenty-mile radius from South Holland Village Hall, therefore an officer may live anywhere within the city of Chicago).
- All new part-time hires will be subject a one (1) year probationary period with the South Holland Police Department
- Must provide copies of birth certificate, high school diploma or GED, military service record and discharge papers, social security card, valid driver’s license, background release and resume
