Water Tower

The Village of South Holland’s Public Works department maintains the infrastructure of the village as well as designing and constructing infrastructure improvements. The daily operations of the Public Works include maintaining public facilities, parks, roadways, traffic lights, sewer systems and street lights.

Special Pick-Up:

Large Special Item pick up ended for the season on October 31st, 2021.  Public Works must stop picking up specials so we can begin the process of preparing trucks for snowplowing.  Republic Services will continue to pick up one large or bulky item on your regular garbage collection day.  The Village will begin collection of Specials on Friday April 1st, 2022.

Yard waste pick-up resumes April 1 and ends November 30. Yard waste toters may only be used for yard waste. Please do not place household trash in the yard waste toter, remember to separate yard waste from household garbage.

Village ordinance prohibits household garbage and waste toters to be stored in front of a residence. The stored toters must be placed behind the building line of the property and should not be placed in an area where odors may cause a nuisance for neighbors. All waste receptacles should be placed in an area least likely to be a nuisance.

Also, Village ordinance states that no garbage cans or toters can be placed at the street or alley before 4:00pm the day before scheduled garbage pickup, and empty receptacles must be returned to their storage area by 8:00pm on garbage pickup day.

Branch Pick-Up:

Branch pick-up resumes April 1. Please trim branches to lengths of 4 feet. Branches will be picked up on the day after your regular garbage day. No need to call.

Branch pick up ends October 31, so that Public Works can begin the process of preparing the trucks for snowplowing.
