South Holland Police Department
The South Holland Police Department is comprised of a Chief, Deputy Chiefs, Lieutenants, Sergeants, Detectives, and Patrol Officers. The Investigative and Patrol Divisions work together in enforcing both the Illinois Compiled Statutes and the Village of South Holland Municipal Code. The Patrol Division actively patrols the 7.3 square miles of South Holland and services the over 22,000 citizens. The officers answer the calls assigned by a central dispatch (E-Com), averaging over 2,100 calls per month.

Chief Greg Baker is a 29 year law enforcement veteran. During his career he has held nearly every law enforcement field operation and administrative position available, from Patrol Officer to Police Chief; which includes Field Training Officer, Detective, Arson Investigator, SWAT, Special Operation Unit, Narcotics Investigator, Community Policing Supervisor to Records Supervisor. His Police career began in 1983 with the Park Forest Police Department, where he rose to the rank of Deputy Chief. He retired from Park Forest Police Department after 23 years to accept the job as Police Chief in Riverdale, IL in 2006. He was the Chief there until 2009. In August 2009 he moved to the position as Deputy Police Chief of Administration for the South Holland Police Department. On January 7, 2013, Baker was appointed to the position of Chief of Police.
Chief Baker has attended several universities and also graduated from the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command in May 2004. Chief Baker is currently the Vice-President of the Chicago Chapter of the National Association of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) and the Region IV Vice-President. Chief Baker is on the Executive Board of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police and is a past Vice-President of the South Suburban Association Chiefs of Police.

Deputy Chief Robert Stegenga is a 31 year veteran of the department. Hired by South Holland Police Department in January of 1981, he has served as Patrolman, D.A.R.E Officer/Juvenile Investigation, Administrative Sergeant, and Patrol Lieutenant. He was appointed Deputy Chief in May 2003 and has served as Deputy Chief of Administration and Deputy Chief of Operations. He is the past Executive Director of the Illinois Juvenile Officers Association and Past President of the South Suburban Juvenile Officers Association. He holds a Bachelors and Master Degree from Governors State University. Deputy Chief Stegenga is a graduate of Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command as well as a graduate of Northwestern University School of Executive Management.
