The Village of South Holland is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Deputy Fire Chief, Brian Kolosh. The appointment by the Mayor was unanimously supported by the Public Safety Committee, and the Village Board.
Deputy Chief Kolosh has twenty years of professional firefighting, paramedic and administrative experience. He started his fire safety career with Acme Steel as a Firefighter/EMT. He later became a POC Firefighter/Paramedic with the Village of South Holland, a Fire Inspector with the Village of Lynwood, and a Fire Captain and Lieutenant with the Village of Thornton. For the past six years, he served as Thornton’s Fire Chief where he supervised 30 POC Firefighters and 22 part-time paramedics and full-time support staff.
He possesses a great deal of knowledge and experience in fire prevention, fire safety, fire inspection, fire investigation, EMS, public education and overall public safety. He serves as the Mutual Aid Advisor, and the Committee Chairman of the Training Academy. He also serves as a member of the EMS Executive Board at Ingalls Hospital, the Committee Chairman of the Canteen, and the Arson Investigator for MABAS (Mutual Aid Box Alarm System) 24, which is our region’s mutual aid system.
He will complete his studies at Southern Illinois University within a year with a bachelor’s degree in Fire Science Management.
Brian Kolosh was appointed to the position of Deputy Chief during the Village Board meeting of August 17, 2009 to be effective August 31.
