The South Holland Fire Department has taken an active role in Post-Incident Citizen Training since early 2010. The primary mission of the program is to raise awareness of fire safety.

Within four to six hours after a significant fire, members of the MABAS 24 Educators group will canvas a one block radius from the fire site to offer residents a quick, yet very important, fire safety inspection, and offer to install 10-year battery smoke detectors as needed.

Immediately following house fires on February 20th and 23rd, the South Holland Fire Department received support from Glenwood and East Hazel Crest fire departments as they went door-to-door handing out fire safety materials, and they installed 35 10-year battery smoke detectors in the homes of South Holland residents.
