MISSION STATEMENT

The primary mission of the South Holland Public Works Department is to provide a variety of services designed to help and protect village residents from adverse conditions created by man or nature, and to perform them as expediently as possible.

Click here for Residential Waste Pick-up Guidelines

The following items should be placed on the curb with your regularly scheduled garbage pick-up:
IN LIMITED QUANTITIES ONLY

WASHERS AND DRYERS FURNITURE STOVES REFRIGERATORS
HOT WATER HEATERS FURNACES AIR CONDITIONERS BOX SPRINGS AND MATTRESSES
SINKS TOILETS LAUNDRY TUBS BUILDING MATERIALS

To allow Allied Waste crews to pickup branches and brush, please be sure that branches of a four inch (4") diameter or less are cut into lengths not exceeding four feet (4'), and tied into a bundle with twine or rope (no wire). Please do not hide "thorny" branches or brush in a loose pile, kindly place them in obvious sight to avoid worker injury. Also, clippings, small branches, and trimmings may be placed into either the Blue Landscape Waste toter or a brown paper bag for pickup on collection day.

The Public Works branch pick-up crew follows the garbage pickup route one day later.
This format eliminates the need for residents to call in for pick-ups.

Allied Waste Services can be reached at 708-385-8252

For any items not picked up by Allied Waste, call Public Works at 339-2323 and set them out by the curb on Thursday.
These items will be picked up on Fridays.

Residents are only responsible for disposing of tires and car parts. All fluids such as old paint, cleaners, and oil should be disposed of properly, and not placed in trash for collection. Remember also, if a contractor is hired to perform any work, the contractor must arrange for all material disposal and debris removal resulting from the work being contracted.
