South
Holland Named
Tree City USA
South Holland has again been named Tree
City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation. This is the fifth year South
Holland has received this national recognition.
"More than ever, today we
understand the importance of trees to our cities and towns. Trees help
clean our air and water, moderate heat and cold, and bring warmth and
grace to our homes," said John Rosenow, president of the National
Arbor Day Foundation.
South Holland is being recognized
for its commitment to an effective and ongoing forestry program. According
to the National Arbor Day Foundation, a community must meet four standards
in order to become a Tree City USA: 1) establish a tree board or
department, 2) pass a tree care ordinance, 3) develop a comprehensive
community forestry program, and 4) have an Arbor Day observance.
South Holland is proud of this
national recognition. |
