PHILOSOPHY
Each child is unique and deserves to be respected for their individuality. Every child is important.
He/she must be treated with respect and compassion to enable the development of that child's potential. Parent/Guardians, staff, and
community work harmoniously to provide a balanced educational environment that will enhance each child's development.
CURRICULUM
The South Holland Parks and Recreation Pre-School is based
on the recreation philosophy "Learning Through Play". Age appropriate activities
are provided in game form to develop skills while having fun! As educators, the
pre-school staff understands the need for quality early childhood programs. The curriculum is well-rounded. It provides each student with the opportunity to develop socially, emotionally, academically, and physically.
Pre-planned activities offer a variety of learning techniques which include teacher directed (teacher leads the lesson), student directed (student leads the lesson),
cooperative learning (students complete activities on their own). A variety of techniques are used each day. The daily activities include, but are not limited to, math concepts, science exploration, story time,
art, music, gym play, social studies, free play, snack time, and computer skills. Field trips and outdoor activities are also part of the educational development.
GOALS
The pre-school staff is determined to provide a safe, happy and healthy environment, which encourages students to do their personal best. Pre-school
is the foundation of education for many children. We intend to keep it fun!! It is our goal to maintain open lines of communication between home and school. Cooperation is the key to education.
