The ground-breaking ceremony for this state-of-the-art facility was held on May 5, 1999. The Community Center is located on 170th Street, one block east of South Park. Construction for the South Holland Community Center began in May, 1999. This state-of-the-art facility was completed in June 2000 and opened to residents on July 1st 2000. This facility allows the Parks and Recreation Department to run all of its programs from one central location. The Center consists of the Park and Recreation offices, two full-size basketball courts, a lap pool, a jogging path, a Fitness Center, pre-school, a nursery, and meeting rooms. The Center will also serve as the main disaster shelter during snow storms, floods, power outages, etc. The Community Center exemplifies why South Holland is a community of Faith, Family, and Future! |
