Successful
Reconstruction
of
170th Street Bridge in South Holland
On Thursday, December 9, 2004, a ribbon cutting ceremony marked the
official completion of the 170th Street bridge in South Holland.
Village President Don A. De Graff, other elected officials and
administrators were joined by representatives of the Illinois Department of
Transportation (IDOT), Cape Construction, Globetrotter Engineering and Robinson
Engineering in celebrating the successful project.
As part of
the reconstruction of the Kingery Expressway, and under the supervision of
Globetrotter Engineering and IDOT, the Village of South Holland now has a brand
new bridge, elevated with new longer slopes to eliminate a long standing flood
problem, and new driveways for many residents in the village.
“With
outstanding cooperation and partnership, IDOT, Globetrotter Engineering,
Robinson Engineering, Cape Construction and Village staff made this project a
success for everyone,” said Ed Wilmes, Director of Public Works for the
Village of South Holland. “This
is a sterling example of the public and private sectors working well
together.”
