based on the May 19, 2008 meeting.
Residents desiring to see a complete record of the Village Board meetings can request

Board Meetings are usually held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month at Village Hall.
The next meeting will take place on Monday, June 2, 2008 at 8:00PM at the Community Center.
Student Government Day
Students from Calvin Christian School, Calvary Academy, McKinley Middle School, Christ Our Savior, and Coolidge Middle School participated in the 20th Annual Student Government Day, taking on the roles of the Village Board and Administrative Staff.
Community Coordination
Trustee Doorn encouraged residents to mark their calendar for the following events:
Annual Memorial Day Parade - Monday, May 26, 11:00am along South Park Avenue from 170th Street to 160th Place. The parade will be followed by the annual Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony and a special dedication of the new ballfields at Veterans Park at 1:00pm.
Ribbon Cutting & Dedication of Freedom Circle - Wednesday, May 28, 2008, 9:30pm at 166th Street & Cottage Grove Avenue. Freedom Circle is named in honor of America's military veterans, active servicemen and servicewomen, and South Holland's public safety teams. As a Village, we will celebrate the remarkable transformation of Cottage Grove Avenue and our new beautiful Freedom Circle.
Mayor's Coffee - Tuesday, June 3, 7:30am at Village Hall.
Parks and Recreation
Trustee Bennett reported the following:
Park Maintenance Staff assisted the Historical Society in setting up Van'O Park and the Legion Hall for the 1st Annual Onion Fest on May 17.
The Community Center will host Summer Program registration on May 29, 12:00 to 7:00pm for South Holland residents, and May 30, 9:00am - 7:00pm and May 31, 9:00am to 3:00pm for the general public. The schedule of programs is available on the Village's website, www.southholland.org and copies of the program booklet are on hand at the Community Center.
The Community Center continues to be the primary venue for community-related activities and it is frequently used by South Holland residents. During the past fiscal year, there were nearly 1,200 rentals and community-related functions at the Community Center. In addition, our Fitness Center was utilized by over 1,500 members, and the Community Center offered over 7.300 hours of recreational programming.
Finance
The Board approved Register No. 613 for $391,028.10 and No. 614 for $888,114.68, covering day-to-day operations, vendor payments, and salaries.
Community Development
The Board approved Building Permits 2008-0351 through 2008-0439, 89 permits representing $435,968 of investment in the community. These permits include: signage for CenterPoint projects; electrical service and blacktop for Simborg Corp.; and a new roof, paint, and flashing for Exceptional Development Institute.
Enginner's Report
Village Engineer Patricia Barker announced the Federeal Highway Administration's and IDOT's approval of the 170th Street design plans.
Other Notables:
Pastor Beverly Conway of Redeemer Lutheran Church opened the meeting with prayer.
As recommended by the Planning & Development Commission, the board approved the rezoning of property located at 168th Street and South Park Avenue from Light Industrial to Single Family Residential.
The Board approved an amendment to the Special Flood Hazard article in the Village Code, which adopts language for the new floodplain maps that are set to be released in August.
The Board approved the annual salary ordinance.
The Board approved a conditional use permit for Divine Touch Ministries to construct a church at 515 E 158th Street.
The Board approved a correction to the plat of survey for the Torres re-subdivision at Vincennes and Armory Drive.
Trustee Chambers shared a letter of recognition from a South resident commending our paramedics, EMTs, and police officers for providing outstanding and professional emergency service.
