Village Board,
based on the February 19, 2008 meeting.
Residents desiring to see a complete record of the Village Board meetings can request
copies of the meeting minutes from the Village Clerk's office in the Municipal building.

Board Meetings are usually held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month at Village Hall.
The next meeting will take place on Monday, March 3, 2008 at 8:00PM at Village Hall.
Community Coordination
Trustee Doorn announced the following events:
Coffee with the Mayor: Tuesday March 18, 7:00pm at the Community Center, 501 E 170th Street. Special topic: Flood Safety Awareness.
"Students on Stage": Saturday, March 15, 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Faith Family Future Center, 16931 South Park Avenue. The Village wants to hear from our students, grades 4-12. We want to know: Who or what has made a positive impact in your life? This essay contest is sponsored by the Village of South Holland, and conducted in partnership with our local schools. Prizes in the form of savings bonds and certificates of honorable mention will be presented to the winners in various grade categories. Parks and Recreation
Trustee Bennett announced that a Sports Card Collection Seminar will be held at the Community Center on Wednesday, February 20 at 6:00pm. Pre-registration is required, as seating is limited to 100 people. There is no cost.
The annual Easter Egg Hunt for South Holland residents, ages 1 to 10, will be held on Saturday, March 15 at 10:00am at Veterans Park (rain or shine), 160th Place & South Park Avenue. You must be a South Holland resident to participate. Pre-registration is required with proof of residency. Residents are encouraged to sign up early as space is limited.
Registration for Little League Boys Baseball and Girls Softball will be at the Community Center on Saturday, February 23, from 10:00am to 1:00pm. For additional information, call 708-889-9300.

Community Development
The Board approved Building Permits 2008-0055 through 2008-0077, 23 permits representing $225,597 of investment in the community. Trustee DeYoung reported that among these permits are signage for Rupari Foods, the Heritage Center, and BP Amoco, as well as a build-out for a new business - Hero's Hoagies & Ice Cream, 946 E 162nd Street.
Other Notables:
Pastor Beverly Conway of Redeemer Lutheran Church offered the prayer at the start of the board meeting.
The Board approved a Class 8 Resolution for property located at 546 E 162nd Street.
Residents expressed their concern over the annual fee for alarm permits. Mayor De Graff responded that he would ask the Village Board of Trustees to review the ordinance and comprise a proposed amendment to eliminate the annual fee after the initial payment of the permit registration fee, for residents who comply with the annual renewal policy.
