Information in this newsletter is intended only to highlight some of the activities of the Village Board,
based on the January 22, 2008 meeting.

Residents desiring to see a complete record of the Village Board meetings can request
copies of the meeting minutes from the Village Clerk's office in the Municipal building.

Board Meetings are usually held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month at Village Hall.
The next meeting will take place on Monday, February 7, 2008 at 8:00PM at Village Hall.


Mark Your Calendars!

Blood Drive - Friday, February 1, 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Village Hall, 16226 Wausau Avenue.

Remember to vote on February 5th! - Residents can participate in early voting January 14-31 at Village Hall during the following hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm; and Saturday, 9:00am to 12:00pm.

Parks and Recreation

Trustee Bennett announced that registration for winter programs went very well. Classes begin this week. If you're interested in signing up for a program, the Community Center is accepting late registrations.

Park Maintenance personnel are currently conducting an inventory of park equipment to determine our needs for the coming year.

Parks and Recreation Department staff are currently evaluating whether to repair the missle in Veterans Park that was damaged during the late December storm.

Finance

Trustee Sullivan presented register No. 601 for $2,210,318.65, covering day-to-day operations, vendor payments, and salaries. The register was approved by the board.

Public Safety

Trustee Chambers congratulated the ESDA team, who recently received an award from Sauk Village commending them for their excellent assistance.

Community Development

The Board approved Building Permits 2008-0003 through 2008-0028, 26 permits representing $295,000 of investment in the community. These permits include a new roof for Maren Engineering and Santefort Building, new signage for Haggerty Buick-Pontiac-GMC and Unforgettable Cafe, and a new fence and doors for the US Post Office.

Other Notables:

Rev. Mel De Vries of First Reformed Church offered the prayer at the start of the meeting.

The Board approved a Clean Indoor Air Ordinance, which mirrors the State of Illinois Clean Indoor Air Act.

The Board approved a contract for the installation of lighting at Veterans Park. The lowest bidding company, H&H Electric, was awarded the contract.
