based on the December 17, 2007 meeting.

Residents desiring to see a complete record of the Village Board meetings can request
copies of the meeting minutes from the Village Clerk's office in the Municipal building.

Board Meetings are usually held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month at Village Hall.
The next meeting will take place on Monday, January 8, 2007 at 8:00PM at Village Hall.


Mark Your Calendars!

Trustee Doorn announced the upcoming Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Musical Tribute on Saturday, January 12, 10:00am at Covenant United Church of Christ, 1130 E 154th Street. The event will feature a school mass choir and church mass choir and guest speaker Rev. Dr. Frank Taylor, Pastor of Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church in Memphis, Tennessee.

Parks and Recreation

Trustee Bennett announced that preschool classes held their annual Christmas parties. The children sang songs for all the guests and also had a visit from Santa Claus. Following the show, everyone enjoyed refreshments provided by the parents.

Registration for winter programs is scheduled for January 10-12 at the Community Center. The booklet is now available online and copies will be available at the Community Center by the end of the month.

There will be a 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament for junior and senior high school students on January 19 at the Faith Family Future Center, 16931 South Park Avenue. You must sign up at the Community Center by January 16.

The Community Center is offering a college student workout pass, which allows for 30 visits for only $40. A valid college ID must be shown at the time of registration.

Finance

Trustee Sullivan presented financial register No. 598 in the amount of $1,709,330.85, covering day-to-day operations, vendor payments, and salaries. The register was approved by the Board.

Public Safety

The Board approved the hiring of one police officer from the eligibility list.

Engineer's Report

The Board approved an annual Motor Fuel Tax resolution to fund street maintenance projects.

Community Development

The Board approved Building Permits 2007-1407 through 2007-1434, representing $397,000 of investment in the community. According to Trustee De Young, these permits include the refacing of existing signs for Gibson Chevrolet; remodeling of the lobby at Oil Express; and the expansion of outside storage for Kenny-Kiewit-Shea.

Other Notables:

Pastor Troy O'Quin of River Oaks Community Church offered the prayer at the start of the meeting.

The Board appointed Donald Bettenhausen as the new Deputy Fire Chief.

The Board approved a resolution authorizing the purchase of properties at 453 and 467 W 162nd Street.

The Board approved resolutions supporting Class 6B extensions to two businesses: Gibralter Chemical and B&B Instruments.

The Board approved an ordinance amending the Village water rate following notification of a rate increase from the City of Chicago.

The Board approved the 2007-2008 levy ordinance of $9,354,000.

The Board approved a series of annual tax abatements on bonds.

The Board approved an amendment to the stop sign ordinance for the installation of a stop sign on Woodlawn East northbound at Prince Drive.

The Board approved resolution authorizing the Village to enter into a contractual agreement with AT&T for the underground installation of telecommunications wires.

The Board approved the purchase of a new pickup truck for use by the Parks Department.
