Board Meetings are usually held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month at Village Hall.

Trustee Doorn reported the following activities:

Mayor's Coffee - December 4 - Come out and join Mayor Don A. De Graff for an informal talk over coffee on Tuesday, December 4 at 7:30am at the Village Hall.

Santa Comes to Town and South Holland's Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony - Friday, December 7, 6:00pm at Fire Station 1 (16230 Wausau Avenue) Come out for live entertainment, Ronald McDonald, and Santa who will be joining Village officials for the annual tree lighting ceremony at 7:00pm. Children must be registered to receive a gift. Call the Community Center at 331-2940.

Blood Drive - Friday, December 14 - Village Hall (16226 Wausau Avenue) will host the next blood drive from 4:00 to 8:00pm

Parks and Recreation

Trustee Bennett announced that the winter program registration is January 10 for South Holland residents only and January 11-12 for the general public.

A Senior Social Christmas Gala is scheduled at the Community Center on Wednesday, December 19 from 10:00am until Noon. Entertainer Mike Lenich will perform and lead a Christmas carol sing-a-long. Refreshments will be served. There is no charge for this event, but pre-registration is required as seating is limited. You must pre-register at the Community Center and pick up your ticket by December 14. Please call Lisa or Cindy at 331-2940 if you have any questions.

Finance

Trustee Sullivan presented financial register No. 596 for $591,320.40, covering day-to-day operations, vendor payments, and salaries, and No. 597 for $3,664,764.29, of which a large portion was allocated to pay down principal on a bond. Both registers were approved by the Board.

Public Safety

The Board approved the hiring of four police officers from the eligibility list.

Community Development

The Board approved Building Permits 2007-1346 through 2007-1406, representing $2,904,724 of investment in the communityAccording to Trustee De Young, these permits include the following: a fence replacement at Manor Care; a $340,000 new home for BK Development; and a $1.7 Million building addition for Rupari Foods.

Other Notables:

A public hearing was held on the TIF redevelopment agreement for South Park Properties, LLC (South Park True Value Hardware) located at 16074 South Park Avenue. Subsequent to the hearing, the Village Board approved an ordinance for the redevelopment of the property, which will bring it within compliance of the Town Center design guidelines.

Pastor Erzeli Wofford of Betheseda Healing Center opened the meeting with prayer.

The Board approved a resolution authorizing assignment of a redevelopment agreement to the new owner of 502 E 162nd Street.

The Board approved ordinances authorizing final payment of projects for the Center East TIF and termination of this TIF.

The Board approved ordinances approving and designating the new Gateway East TIF and adopting TIF financing for the new district.

The Board approved an amendment to the Class 6B tax incentive for Rupari Foods.

The Board approved an ordinance to adopt the 2008 National Electrical Code for the Village.
