Village Board,
based on the November 19, 2007 meeting.

Meetings are usually held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month
at Village Hall.

Teacher honored for rescuing toddler
Calvary Day Care teacher Antonia (Toni) Redmond was lauded by the Village of South Holland for her quick response to a choking 2-year-old toddler during lunchtime. She successfully cleared the young child's obstructed airway before paramedics arrived, saving his life and preventing permanent brain damage.

Mayor's Coffee - December 4 - Come out and join Mayor Don A. De Graff for an informal talk over coffee on Tuesday, December 4 at 7:30am at the Village Hall.
Santa Comes to Town for South Holland's Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony - Friday, December 7, 6:00pm at Fire Station 1 - Come out for live entertainment, Ronald McDonald, and jolly ole Santa who will be joining Village officials for the annual tree lighting ceremony at 6:00pm. Children must be registered to receive a gift. Call the Community Center at 331-2940.
Blood Drive - Friday, December 14 - Village Hall will host the next blood drive from 4:00 to 8:00pm
Parks and Recreation
The winter program registration will open January 10 for South Holland residents only, and January 11-12 for the general public.
The Harbor Lights concert was a sell out as over 200 people enjoyed an evening of good music and good food.
The Youth Fitness Program was featured in an article in the Northwest Indiana Times. It detailed the Parks and Recreation Department and its promotion of healthy lifestyles to children within the Village.
Community Development
The Board approved Building Permits 2007-1210 through 2007-1345, representing $1,785,119 of investment in the community. Included among these permits
are the following: a gas station/mini-mart and car wash at 170th Street & South Park; a refrigeration system for Rupari Foods; an upgrade of cellular sites for T-Mobile; replacement of concrete on the patio and sidewalk at Manor Care.Other Notables:
Village Board President Don A. De Graff opened the meeting with prayer.
The Board approved Registers No. 593 for $961,899.47, No. 594 for $411,273.84, and No. 595 for $2,141,458.32 covering day-to-day operations, vendor payments, and salaries.
The Board approved contracts for Veterans Park Field House, including the installation of an HVAC system and metal doors.
