Village Board,
based on the October 15, 2007 meeting.
Residents desiring to see a complete record of the Village Board meetings can request

Meetings are usually held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month
at Village Hall.

Community Coordination
Trustee Doorn shared the success of the annual CommUNITY Dinners event, held Saturday, October 13. This year, more than 230 residents shared in this celebration of our unity. Participants enjoyed an evening of delicious food, lively conversations, and fellowship.
Parks and Recreation
Trustee Bennett announced that the Community Center will host "Harbor Lights" on Saturday, Harbor Lights is an a cappella group known for performing 1950s music. Doors open at 6:00pm and the show begins at 6:30pm. Advance tickets are $14 for seniors, and $16 for ages 16 and up. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $18. For more information, contact the Community Center at 331-2940.
The Annual Harvest Fest is scheduled for Thursday, October 25 at the Community Center, beginning at 6:30pm. South Holland children, ages 3-12 are invited to participate in a variety of fun activities and games, including pumpkin decorating (must bring own pumpkin). Registration is required for this FREE event, with proof of residency.
Trustee Bennett further reported that all the Community Center recreation fitness instructors are certified in first aid and CPR.
Public Safety
Trustee Chambers introduced Mike Moss, a certified Firefighter II, who recently joined the South Holland Fire Department.
Public Works
Trustee James announced that branch pick up will be suspended for the winter effective October 31, so that the Public Works Department can prepare the trucks for snow removal. He also reminded residents that the blue yard waste toters can be used to dispose of regular garbage during the months of December, January, February, and March.
Community Development
The Board approved Building Permits 2007-1140 through 2007-1209, representing $854,939 of investment in the community. Trustee De Young reported that among these permits
are the following: a 9,600 sq. ft. building addition for T&B Tube; a build-out for Illinois Transport; a TCF Bank kiosk in Jewel/Osco; and three demolition permits for the Village of South Holland.Other Notables:
A public hearing was held for a redevelopment agreement for 16102 South park Avenue in Town Center. Following the hearing, the Board authorized the execution of the agreement.
Pastor Willard High of Shepherd's Community Church opened the meeting with prayer.
The Board approved a Class 6B Resolution for T&B Tube for a 9,600 sq. ft. building addition at 15523 South LaSalle. T&B Tube is a 13 year corporate resident of the Village of South Holland.
The Board approved a motion to allow for the installation of a historical marker, the "Weeping Eye", at Little Calumet Park, 158th & Kimbark. The marker is dedicated to Native Americans who lived in the area many years ago.
The Board approved Registers No. 592 for $1,928,624.72, covering day-to-day operations, vendor payments, and salaries.
The Board approved a motion to cancel the November 5, 2007 Board Meeting. The next meeting of the Village Board will be Monday, November 19, 2007.
