Board Meetings are usually held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month at Village Hall.
The next meeting will take place on
Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at 8:00PM at Village Hall.


Village Administrators lauded by District 151

School District 151 Superintendent Dr. Doug Hamilton commended Village Administrator J Wynsma and Deputy Administrator Patricia Mahon for their commitment to leadership during the district's strategic planning process. District 151 has relocated its administrative offices to 525 E 162nd Street, soon to be named in honor of veteran educator Jessica Buckner on September 8 at 10:00am during a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Come out for this year's Heritage Festival, beginning Thursday, August 30 with the Artists Gallery at the Community Center, and concluding Monday, September 3, with Paarlberg Fest at Paarlberg Park.

Parks and Recreation

Trustee Bennett announced that the fall program information for the Community Center should be onine this week and booklets are expected to be available at the Community Center next week. Registration is planned for September 6 for South Holland residents only. Open registration begins September 7 and 8.

Community Development

The Board approved Building Permits 2007-0868 through 2007-0946, representing $454,000 of investment in the community. According to Trustee De Young, the permits include a build-out for a new tenant at LaSalle Park, demolition of the former Yellow Ribbon restaurant, new signage for PB Products and Exhibit Sources, expansion for a large freezer facility for Rupari Foods, and roofing and overhead doors for Owens International.

Other Notables:

James McKinney, III of Kingdom Ministries opened the meeting with prayer.

The Board approved Register No. 586 for $1,709,914.64, covering day-to-day operations, vendor payments, and salaries.

The Board awarded contracts for the Town Center Phase II project to low bidders: Alpha Construction for sidewalks, street lighting and storm sewers; and Dawn Companies for the west water main. Both companies submitted bids below the Village's projected costs.

The Board awarded a contract for the reconstruction of the Veterans Park west parking lot to low bidder Gallagher Asphalt. Their bid was also below the Village's projected costs.

Trustee Bennett commended Public Works Director, Frank Knittle, for his responsiveness to the needs of residents during the most recent power outages within the Village.
