based on the June 18, 2007 meeting.

Board Meetings are usually held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month at Village Hall.

Monday, July 2, 2007 at 8:00PM at Village Hall.


Mark Your Calendars

Library Programs - "Get a Clue" (ages 7-14) and "Reading: A Staple of Life" (Ages 15 and up) Summer Reading Programs run June 4 through July 28. Several programs are planned in June and July, and space is limited, so sign up early! Registration for programs begins 2 weeks prior to the start of each program.

Outdoor Worship Celebration - Sunday, July 1 at 6:00pm at Veterans Park. The South Holland Ministerial Association will sponsor the celebration, featuring guest speaker Rev. Dr. Carl Jeffrey Wright, President of Urban Ministries. Bring your lawn chairs or blanket for seating. A free-will offering will be received. In the event of rain, the service will be held at First Reformed Church, 15924 South Park Avenue.

Independence Day Celebration - July 4. This year's event will be held at Thornwood High School, 171st & South Park Avenue (south ballfields). The event will feature a performance by the South Holland Municipal Band at 7:30pm, followed by a spectacular fireworks show at 9:00pm.

Heritage Festival Artists Gallery - The deadline to sign up for the Artists Gallery is July 31, all interested South Holland resident artists should submit their applications as soon as possible. The gallery provides South Holland residents an opprtunity to display their artwork during the Heritage Festival on Labor Day weekend, August 30 to September 1.

Vehicle Stickers and Dog Licenses now available - Current 2006-07 vehicle stickers expire on June 30. Vehicle stickers may be purchased by mail or picked up at Village Hall. The stickers must be displayed by August 1 to avoid a 50% late fee. Dog licenses are also available for purchase at Village Hall.

Heritage Haul 5K - Saturday, September 15. This event will kick off at 8:00am at 158th and South Park. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation to assist their efforts to fight childhood obesity.

South Holland Today coming soon - Look for the June/July edition of the South Holland Today to arrive in your mailbox this week. This issue features articles on the new Interstate Zoning District, and the new Faith, Family, Future Center.

Community Development

The Board approved Building Permits Nos. 2007-0520 through 2007-0598, representing $747,000 of investment in the community. According to Trustee De Young, the permits include repairs for moisture infiltration to the basement of the South Holland Public Library, roofing for Shelco Steel, a demolition permit for the Village of South Holland, and 5 possible flood proofing rebates.

Other Notables:

Reverend Willard High of Shepherd's Community Church opened the meeting with prayer.

The Board approved an Ordinance governing Day Care Homes.

The Board approved an Intergovernmental Agreement with Dolton for the resurfacing of 154th Street, and an Intergovernmental Agreement with Thornton for the resurfacing of Armor Drive, Westview Ave, and 172nd Street.

The Board approved TIF inducement resolutions for facade improvements to 16101 South Park Avenue and 16102 South Park Avenue.

The Board approved Register No. 580 for $1,379,972.91, covering day-to-day operations, vendor payments, and salaries.

The Board authorized the purchase of a pick-up truck through the state purchase program.
