based on the May 21, 2007 meeting.

Residents desiring to see a complete record of the Village Board meetings can request
copies of the meeting minutes from the Village Clerk's office in the Municipal building.

Board Meetings are usually held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month at Village Hall.

Monday, June 4, 2007 at 8:00PM at Village Hall.


Re-elected Trustees sworn in

Village Trustees Cynthia Doorn, Mathew James, John Sullivan, and N. Keith Chambers take the oath of office.

Students from Calvin Christian School, Calvary Academy, McKinley Middle School, Christ Our Savior, and Coolidge Middle School participated in Student Government Day, taking on the roles on the Village board and administrative staff.

Mark Your Calendars

Mayor's Coffee - Tuesday, June 5, 7:30am at Village Hall. Join Mayor Don A. De Graff and other village officials for coffee, donuts and juice as you share your thoughts, ask questions, and express concerns.

Annual Memorial Day Parade - Monday, May 28, 11:00am along South Park Avenue. There will be a Memorial Ceremony at Veterans Park at 12:30 following the parade.

Library Programs - "Get a Clue" (ages 7-14) and "Reading: A Staple of Life" (Ages 15 and up) Summer Reading Programs run June 4 through July 28. Several programs are planned in June and July, and space is limited, so sign up early! Registration for programs begins 2 weeks prior to the start of each program.

Community Development

The Board approved Building Permits Nos. 2007-0353 through 2007-0454, representing $673,549 of investment in the community. According to Trustee De Young, the permits include the repainting and repair of Check & Go at State Street Center; new signage for Elite Computers in the Mr. Submarine Mall; new signage for Best Supply; and signage and office remodeling for Pipe Products. The Village of South Holland also has two demolition permits. 

Other Notables:

Chaplain Hank Elgersma of Rest Haven Christian Services opened the meeting with prayer.

Village Board President Don A. De Graff and the board proclaimed May 20 - 26 National EMS Week in the Village of South Holland.

The Board approved a resolution consenting to the transfer of real estate (Dunkin Donuts) to Murad Husain. This transfer is for change of ownership of Dunkin Donuts, which will remain in South Holland.

The Board approved Register No. 577 for $1,874,121.73, covering day-to-day operations, vendor payments, and salaries.

Parks & Recreation: Residents are encouraged to register for summer programs at the Community Center by Sunday, May 27, to receive a $10 discount on each summer class (excludes Pre-School, Day Camps, and Pre-School Day Camp).
