at Village Hall.

Community Coordination
Trustee Doorn announced the following upcoming events:
Monday, April 16 through Saturday, April 21 - National Library Week at the South Holland Public Library, 16250 Wausau Avenue. A host of activities are scheduled for the week. For additional information, contact the Library at 331-5262 or http://www.southhollandlibrary.org.
Tuesday, April 17, 6:30am to 7:00pm - Municipal and School Board Election Day
Thursday, May 3, 7:30am to 8:45am - Mayor's Prayer Breakfast, presented by the South Holland Ministerial Association. The event will be held at Spirit of God Fellowship, 16350 State Street. The guest speaker is Melvin Banks, founder of Urban Ministries International. Ticket donation is $6, and available at local churches, Calvary Bookstore, or at the door.
Saturday, May 5, 6:30am to 1:00pm - Lions Pancake Day at the South Holland Community Center, 501 E 170th Street. The all-you-can-eat event is $5 per person, and children 4 and under eat free. Tickets are available from Lions Club members and at the door.
Saturday, May 12, 8:30am to 12:00pm - Take a Bite out of Grime and Arbor Day Celebration at the South Holland Community Center. Residents are encouraged to register for the annual clean-up event by contacting Ed Stewart at 331-2940.

Parks & Recreation
Trustee Bennett announced the annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, April 7 at 10:00am at Veterans Park (rain or shine), for South Holland residents ages 1 to 10. Registration is required and available through April 3, with proof of residency. For additional information, contact the Community Center at 331-2940.
The Parks & Recreation Department was recently awarded a $110,000 grant from the Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity, made possible by State Representative David Miller. The grant will be used to upgrade playground equipment at various parks. Paarlberg and Papoose parks are the first two scheduled to receive improvements.
Community Development
The Board approved Building Permits Nos. 2007-0140 through 2007-0187, representing $764,472 of investment in the community. According to Trustee De Young, permits were issued to Hilton Garden Inn, Christian Community Health Center and Ma'Dear Home Services for new signage, and Carl Buddig & Co. for roofing.
Other Notables:
Reverend Heino Blaauw of Peace Christian Reformed Church opened the meeting with prayer.
The Board approved a conditional use permit for Moms Know Best Children Center to be located at College Park, west of 162nd and State Street.
The Board approved Register No. 572 for $796,063.54 and No. 573 for $503,330.45, covering day-to-day operations, vendor payments, and salaries.
Public Works: The board awarded a mowing contract for public right-of-ways and ditches to low bidder Stay Green Landscaping in the amount of $14,245.
The Board approved a motion to solicit bids for improvements to Veterans Park, which include the south parking lot and a water main.
