based on the March 19, 2007 meeting.

Meetings are usually held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month
at Village Hall.

Mark Your Calendars
Give the gift of life by participating in the next blood drive on April 2. The blood drive will be held at Thorn Creek Church, 1875 E 170th Street, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.
For South Holland residents ages 1 through 10, there will be an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 7 at 10:00am at Veterans Park (rain or shine). There is no charge for this event. South Holland businesses and organizations have donated gift baskets that the children will take home after hunting for the eggs.
Don't forget to vote during the Municipal Election, April 17. Please check your Voter's Registration Card sent to you by the Cook County Clerk's Office, or visit http://www.voterinfonet.com for your current polling place. If you have questions, you may call 312-603-0976 or 708-210-2910.
Village Hall will be closed Friday, April 6 in observance of Good Friday.
Parks & Recreation
Trustee Bennett announced that registration for summer programs is scheduled for May 24-26. The schedule of classes and activities will be available the last week of April and can be viewed online at http://www.southholland.org. Hard copies of the schedule will be on hand at the Community Center as well.
Two new scoreboards, donated by the Pepsi Cola Company, have been installed on the softball fields at Gouwens Park. Softball and baseball games will be starting this week at Gouwens Park, weather permitting.
The new stone fence line at Van'O Park was completed during last week's warm spell.
Community Development
The Board approved Building Permits Nos. 2007-0107 through 2007-0139, representing $952,684 of investment in the community. Trustee De Young reported that among the permits are two Village projects: a demolition permit for the Town Center redevelopment project, and an operations building and 2 athletic fields for Veterans Park.
Other Notables:
Pastor Troy O'Quinn of River Oaks Community Church opened the meeting with prayer.
Attorney's Report: The Board approved contracts presented by Village Engineer, Pat Barker, for Veterans Park improvements. Among the improvements are work on two athletic fields and underground conduit for the new restrooms/concession building.
Trustee Chambers announced that the Village recently received a $50,000 grant through the efforts of State Representative David Miller for updates to the Police Department's firing range.
The Board approved Register No. 571 for $1,364,043.92, covering day-to-day operations, vendor payments, and salaries.
Trustee James announced that as ok April 1, blue toters are to only be used for yard waste. Residents can request branch pick-ups from the Public Works Department as of April 1.
