Parks & Recreation

Trustee Bennett announced the Annual South Holland Talent Show is scheduled for March 9 at the Community Center. If you would like to audition, please contact Lisa Wilson at the Community Center, 331-2940.

With the success of the play "Sister Bernie's Bingo Bash" this past fall, the Community Center will host two entertainment events - one this summer and another in the fall. One will be a concert type venue and the other will be a night of comedy and song. As the events get closer, information will be made available at the Community Center, Public Access, and in the South Holland Today.

Community Development

The Board approved Building Permits Nos. 2007-0085 through 2007-0106, representing $86,000 of investment in the community. According to Trustee De Young, permits were issued to Gibraltar Chemical for electrical upgrades, A.J. Adhesives for duct work, as well as various flood proofing permits for basement sealing and sewer repairs.

Other Notables:

The Board approved the Clean Indoor Air Ordinance, which mirrors the State of Illinois Clean Indoor Air Act, and essentially leaves smoking regulations in the Village unchanged.

The Board approved the sale of a series of 2007 bands primarily for the continuing Town Center redevelopment project.

The Board authorized the acquisition of the Roosevelt School from School District 151, as part of the Town Center redevelopment.
