based on the January 16, 2007 meeting.

Board
Meetings are usually held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month
at Village Hall.

Undefeated Super Bowl Champions lauded by the Village
The South Holland Jets Pee Wee and Varsity teams were honored for their undefeated seasons and 2006 Super Bowl Championships. Mayor De Graff and the Village Board presented each coach and player with a resolution honoring their achievement in the highly competitive Will-Cook Youth Football League.
Mayor De Graff and the Village Board honored Virgil Jordan, retiring Assistant Director of Planning, Development & Code Enforcement, with a resolution and plaque for his 11 years of dedicated service to the Village of South Holland.
Parks & Recreation
Trustee Bennett announced that registration for available winter programs continues at the Community Center. The schedule of programs can be viewed online at www.southholland.org or at the Community Center.
Rates for room rentals at the Community Center will increase by $2 per room beginning February 1. Events booked prior to February 1 will qualify for payment under the previous rates. Please direct any questions regarding new rates to Sean or Bill at the Community Center, 331-2940.
Permits for picnics can be obtained at the Community Center. Please call Sonia or Catherine at 331-2940 to answer any questions regarding permits.
Community Development
The grand opening of the new Walgreens will be Friday, February 2 at 10:00am.
The Board approved Building Permits Nos. 2006-1429 through 2006-1464 and 2007-0001 through 2007-0020, representing $1,055,000 of investment in the community. Trustee De Young noted that the total valuation 2006 is $28 MILLION. Included in these permits are signage and completion for the 6,000 square foot retail center adjacent to the new Walgreens, signage for the Regency Inn, paving a new drive for Pro Freight Express, a demolition permit for the Village, and three possible flood proofing rebates.
Other Notables:
The Board approved an ordinance requiring residents to install carbon monoxide detectors in their homes, as mandated by a new State law.
The Board approved an amendment to the Planned Unit Development ordinance, setting the minimum tract for development at one acre.
Trustee Doorn shared highlights from the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration, at which 600 attendees enjoyed rousing performances by local students and inspirational remarks from Mayor Don A. DeGraff, State Representative David Miller, and several members of the South Holland Ministerial Association.
A blood drive will be held at Village Hall on February 2 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.
The Board approved Registers No. 563 for $647,022.47, No. 564 for $887,041.61, and No. 565 for $618,248.08, covering day-to-day operations, vendor payments, and salaries.
Trustee Chambers reported that the Village recently received a grant from FEMA, which aids in the hiring of additional firefighters.
