Village Board,
based on the November 6, 2006 meeting.
Residents desiring to see a complete record of the Village Board meetings can request

Meetings are usually held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month
at Village Hall.
The next meeting will take place on Monday,
November 20, 2006 at 8:00PM
at Village Hall.
Village Solicits Residents' Input
Trustee Doorn announced that the administrative leadership team is working to improve future Heritage Festivals, and therefore, requests the input of residents. Residents are encouraged to fill out the Heritage Festival survey on page 5 of the November edition of the South Holland Today, and to return the survey to the Communications Department at Village Hall, 16226 Wausau Avenue, or fax to 210-1019.
The South Holland Business Association is sponsoring a South Park Avenue Business Celebration on Saturday, November 18, from 11:00am to 4:00pm between 160th Place and 161st Place on South Park Avenue. Look for more information on raffle prizes and activities for the entire family in the South Holland Today and The Shopper.
Santa is coming to town on Friday, December 1 at 7:00pm. The lighting of the Village Christmas tree will take place in front of Village Hall, where children will have an opportunity to share their Christmas wish with Santa. Caroling, refreshments, and Christmas presents for the kids will be enjoyed indoors at the Fire Station.
The next Mayor's Coffee will be held on Tuesday, December 5 at 7:30am at Village Hall. All residents are invited to attend.
Attorney's Report
Community Development
The Board approved Building Permits No. 2006-705, 2006-706, and 2006-1186 through 2006-1299, representing $1,963,100 of investment in the community. According to Trustee De Young, the permits include roofing for the South Holland Public Library and Illiana Veterinarian Hospital, fire alarms, electrical upgrades, paving and other external upgrades for Pro Freight, new service doors for Taft Industrial Partners, new signage for new business Xclusive Wear located at 77 W Sibley, lower level upgrades at Holland Home, and two new homes in the Preserves of South Holland subdivision.
Other Notables:
Pastor Georgina Ayala of Destiny Christian Center opened the meeting with prayer.
Engineer's Report: The Board awarded two sewer lining contracts for the South Park Avenue project to low bidders American Pipeliners and Insituform Technologies USA.
Parks and Recreation Report: New playground equipment will be installed at Thorn Creek Park by November 10. The second session of fall programs at the Community Center began this week.
Public Safety Report: The Board authorized the hiring of a firefighter from the eligibility list to fill a vacancy. The Police and ESDA Departments were recently lauded for their support and assistance at recent events held in South Holland and in other municipalities in the region, including Greenwood Elementary School's walk-a-thon held in October, Steger Days, and Phoenix Fest, and the funeral service for Metra Police Officer Tom Cook.
The Board approved Register No. 557 for $805,693.64 and No. 558 for $2,223,306.79, covering day-to-day operations, vendor payments, and salaries.
