Village Board,
based on the September 5, 2006 meeting.

Board
Meetings are usually held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month
at Village Hall.
The next meeting will take place on Monday,
September 18, 2006 at 8:00PM
at Village Hall.
Village lauds couple for contribution to public safety
Bob and Becky Lelingis of North Riverside, IL were recognized by the Village Board and Police Department for their recent donation of a bullet and stab resistant vest for South Holland Police K-9 Jasgono, also known as "Yaz". They received the Civic Award from Police Chief Millsaps and Yaz's partner, Officer Ken Burrow.
Parks and Recreation
Trustee Bennett announced that registration for fall recreation programs continues at the Community Center during regular business hours. If residents have any questions, please call the Community Center at 331-2940. Most programs are scheduled to begin the week of September 11.
Parks and Recreation Preschool started Tuesday, September 5. There are a limited number of opening still available for the afternoon session. Additional information regarding the preschool program is available at the Community Center.
Trustee Bennet recognized the Parks and Public Works crews for their hard work in getting the parks and streets ready for the Heritage Fest activities over Labor Day weekend.
Community Development
The Board approved Building Permits No. 2006-0956 through 2006-1016, representing $289,812 of investment in the community. Trustee De Young highlighted a few of the permits issued, including signage for PLS Tax Service and Walgreens, and a demolition permit for the Village of South Holland. There are also two possible flood proofing rebates.

Trustee Larry De Young opened the meeting with prayer.
The Board approved a motion to designate Trustee De Young as Mayor Pro-tem for this meeting in light of the scheduled absence of Village President Don A De Graff.
Trustee Cindy Doorn thanked all of the Village Departments for their hard work in making the Heritage Festival a success. She also reminded everyone that September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. She encouraged residents to make sure to take care of themselves and to encourage loved ones to do the same.
Trustee Doorn reminded residents that the next Mayor's Coffee will be held Tuesday, September 12 at 7:00pm at the Community Center.
The Board approved Register No. 551 for $485,803.51 and No. 552 for $744,359.84, covering day-to-day operations, vendor payments, and salaries.
