based on the June 19, 2006 meeting.

Board
Meetings are usually held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month
at Village Hall.

Don't miss great fireworks at a new time!
The 73rd Annual Independence Day Celebration will be held Tuesday, July 4 at Veterans Park, beginning at 9:30am. Come out and enjoy a full day of activities and fun, including the annual Rib Fest Cook-Off, face painting, juggling, balloon animals, fun games for the entire family, an incredible stunt bike show, and live musical entertainment. The day will culminate with spectacular fireworks at a new time - 9:00pm. Don't miss it! Vehicle stickers and dog licenses are now on sale at Village Hall. A 50% late fee will be applied after August 1.
The Heritage Festival will be held Thursday, August 31 - Monday, September 4. This year will feature a Community Wellness Day, which will include a 5K charity run/walk event, the Heritage Haul: South Holland's On The Move! Proceeds from the 5K event will benefit the St. Baldrick's Foundation, a local charity committed to raising funds and awareness for children with cancer. The Heritage Haul Planning Committee is looking for volunteers for the event. If you are interested, please call Mary Ann Thornton at Village Hall, 210-2918.
Parks and Recreation
Trustee Bennett announced that the park maintenance staff is trimming trees and placing mulch around fence lines at Veterans park in preparation for the Independence Day festivities.
Summer Day Camp and Pre-School Day Camp are off to a great start. They have already taken 2 field trips in addition to the daily planned activities.
South Holland Night with the Gary Railcats Baseball Team will be August 2. Tickets, which are $29 each and includes an all-you-can-eat buffet during the game, can be purchased at the Community Center starting June 22.
Engineer's Report
The Board approved a resolution authorizing an intergovernmental agreement between the Village of South Holland and the Cook County Assessor's Office to provide access to the Geographic Information System (GIS) database.
Community Development
The Board approved Building Permits No. 2006-0523 through 2006-0621, representing $788,000 of investment in the community. Trustee De Young reported that the permits include a site development and foundation plan for Walgreens at Town Center, a 200,000 square foot building for new business Liberty Furniture, new signage for Stanfa Tire, and construction of one new home in the new subdivision, The Preserves of South Holland. There are also three possible flood proofing rebates.
Other Notables:
Chaplain Hank Elgersma of Holland Home and Rest Haven South opened the meeting with prayer.
Fred Block, Flood Assistance Coordinator, submitted to the Board the Annual Status Report of the Floodplain Management Plan.
The Board approved an ordinance to amend Chapter 13 - Peddlers and Solicitors - which allows one "Tag Day" per year, per charitable organization; a total of 15 Tag Day permits issued by the Village per year; and adheres to more strict safety measures.
The Board approved an ordinance placing a temporary moratorium on the issuance of new licenses for certain businesses in order to ensure a healthy economic balance in the Village.
The Board authorized the execution of a redevelopment agreement with Covenant Development, Ltd. for Town Center Lot D.
The Board approved a resolution authorizing the purchase of property at 426 E 161st Street as part of the Town Center redevelopment project.
The Board approved Register No. 544 for $807,708.56, covering day-to-day operations, vendor payments, and salaries.
