Village Board,
based on the June 5, 2006 meeting.

Board
Meetings are usually held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month
at Village Hall.
The next meeting will take place on Monday,
June 19, 2006 at 8:00PM
at Village Hall.
Community Coordination
Trustee Doorn announced that Independence Day festivities will be held Tuesday, July 4 at Veterans Park, with concession stands opening at 9:30am. The deadline to enter the annual Rib Fest competition is Friday, June 23. Entry forms are available at the Village Hall and in the May edition of South Holland Today. The Independence Day celebration will culminate with an amazing fireworks show at 9:00pm.
Vehicle stickers and dog licenses are now on sale at Village Hall. A 50% late fee will be applied after August 1.
The Heritage Festival will be held August 31 - September 4. This year will feature the "Heritage Haul" 5K run/walk event and Community Wellness Day activities. Residents are invited to learn more about volunteer opportunities for the 5K event at the Volunteer Recruitment Reception next Tuesday, June 13, 7:00pm at the Community Center. Refreshments will be served.
Parks and Recreation
Trustee Bennett announced that the Parks and Recreation Department would like to thank all of the participants, spectators, and workers that made the Memorial Day parade and program a huge success.
If you missed registration for summer programs, there is still time to sign up. Call or stop by the Community Center to see if space is still available.
A new mowing tractor was delivered on May 31. It is a great addition for the Park Maintenance staff, as it will help keep our parks looking beautiful.
The Family Fun & Fitness Expo was held at the Community Center on May 27. Radio personality Fiona Verde from 106.3FM was the featured host. Participants received many nice prizes at the event.
Engineer's Report
Upon the recommendation of Village Engineer Pat Barker, the Board awarded contracts to low bidder Hasse Construction to complete projects in Town Center, including stormwater management at $1,002,726 and phase one of the water main at $550,494.
Community Development
The Board approved Building Permits No. 2006-0421 through 2006-0522, representing $605,979 of investment in the community. Trustee De Young reported that the permits were issued to G & T Enterprises for paving, Illinois Transport for a fuel tank, and Citizens Financial for lighting. There were also two possible flood proofing rebates.
Public Safety
Trustee Chambers announced that a letter of commendation regarding ESDA from William Randolph, Inc. was received by the Public Safety Committee.
Other Notables:
Youth Pastor Aaron Johnson of Living Hope Church opened the meeting with prayer.
The Board agreed to formally reject the bids submitted for the Cottage Grove Avenue road construction project as the bids were extremely high. The project will be re-bid soon for a spring 2007 start.
The Board approved an amendment to the Vehicle Impoundment Ordinance, 2006-17, to add a definition for a "hearing officer".
The Board approved an ordinance placing a six-month moratorium on home day care center licenses to allow time to conduct necessary due diligence to ensure safety and address neighborhood issues.
The Board approved the adoption of the 2005 update to the Floodplain Management Plan for the Village.
The Board approved Register No. 542 for $1,342,047.13 and 543 for $1,200,614.24, covering day-to-day operations, vendor payments, and salaries.
