Village Board,
based on the April 17, 2006 meeting.

Board
Meetings are usually held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month
at Village Hall.

Take a Bite Out of Grime
South Holland's 11th Annual Clean-Up Day is Saturday April 29, 2006. Meet at the South Holland Community Center at 8:30am. Breakfast and Lunch will be provided. Community Coordination
Trustee Doorn announced that the Mayor's Prayer Breakfast will be held Thursday, May 4 at 7:30am at First Reformed Church located at 15924 South Park Avenue. Van C. Stone, Executive Director of the Lions of Illinois Foundation, is the guest speaker.
The Lions Club Annual Pancake Day is Saturday, May 6 from 6:30am to 1:00pm at the Community Center. Tickets are $5 and are available from Lions Club members or at the door. Children 4 and under eat free.
Eighth grade students from various South Holland schools will participate in the 18th Annual Student Government Day on Monday, May 15 at 7:00pm at the Community Center.
Tuesday, May 23, 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Community Center, residents are invited to attend a Financial Expo hosted by the South Holland Business Association. Important information related to home and business finance, retirement and college planning, investments and banking will be provided.
Parks and Recreation
Trustee Bennett announced that the Easter Egg Hunt was enjoyed by more than 150 children and their families.
A new wind-break/winter protection canopy has been installed at the Community Center entrance.
All South Holland parks are now open from sunrise to sunset for the summer, and fertilizing and spraying have begun in the parks.
Plans for the Memorial Day Parade Program are well underway. If you have any questions or want to participate, contact Deputy Director of Recreation Ed Stewart at 331-2940.
Finance
The Board approved Register No. 539 for $1,028,266.30, covering day-to-day operations, vendor payments, and salaries.
Community Development
The Board approved Building Permits No. 2006-0221 through 2006-0269, representing $210,369 of investment in the community. Trustee De Young reported that the permits include signage announcing the new Walgreens site at the northwest corner of 162nd Street & South Park Avenue, signage for MCM Boutique at the Village Center, electrical work for New You Beauty Shop, and fire sprinklers for Kelly Pipe and Calumet Carton.
Other Notables:
The Board approved a resolution honoring Ernie Rohr, who retired from the Fire & Police Commission after 14 years of service.
The Board approved a resolution supporting the CREATE Project which is working to relieve freight rail congestion.
The Board approved a resolution urging the Governor to enter into a long-term land lease with the Abraham Lincoln National Airport Commission.
The Board approved a jurisdictional transfer agreement for Cottage Grove Avenue, giving South Holland jurisdiction of the street after Cook County completes the road construction project scheduled to begin this summer.
The Board approved a resolution consenting to a cable franchise transfer from Wide Open West to its new parent company, Racecar Acquisitions. Wide Open West is not changing its name.
The Board authorized the execution of updated water agreements with Lansing, Illinois and Hammond, Indiana.
The Board approved a Vehicle Seizure and Impoundment Ordinance.
