based on the March 20, 2006 meeting.

Board Meetings are usually held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month at Village Hall.

Monday, April 3, 2006 at 8:00PM at Village Hall.


Local Hero award presented to 8 year old

Eight year old James Cosby, Jr. received the Local Hero award for his quick thinking, bravery, and ability to remain calm when calling 9-1-1 during a medical emergency involving his sixteen year old sister, Jasmine. Mayor Don A. De Graff congratulates him on the award.

Community Coordination

Trustee Doorn announced that more than 300 residents attended the recent property tax appeal meeting that was held at the Community Center. She thanked the administration for all of their hard work to plan this successful event.

The next blood drive is April 3, 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Thorn Creek Church, 1875 E 170th Street.

Residents are invited to join Mayor Don De Graff and Village Trustees as they "Take a Bite out of Grime" and celebrate Arbor Day, April 29 beginning at 8:30am at the South Holland Community Center. A continental breakfast and lunch will be served. Call 210-2904 to register for the event.

Parks and Recreation

Trustee Bennett announced that on April 8, 9:00am to 1:00am, the Community Center will be hosting the first for four financial seminars sponsored by MB Financial Bank. Additional information will be forthcoming in future MB Financial advertisements.

Preparations are already underway for the annual Memorial Day Parade. Anyone interested in participating in the parade should contact Ed Stewart, Deputy Director of Recreation, at 331-2940.

Finance

The Board approved Register No. 536 for $1,078,014.77, covering day-to-day operations, vendor payments, and salaries.

Community Development

The Board approved Building Permits No. 2006-0126 through 2006-0166, representing $576,000 of investment in the community. Trustee De Young reported that the permits include buildouts for LaSalle Office Complex and Kelly Pipe Co., new signage for Citizens Financial Bank and Manpower, a remodel and upgrade for Restoration Ministries, and 3 possible flood proof rebates.

Other Notables:

The Board awarded the 2006 concrete replacement contract to low bidder J&J Newell Concrete.

The Board approved the appointments of Joe Crowley, Jim Boss and Brent Verhagen to the Fire and Police Commission, Electrical Commission, and Economic Development Commission, respectively.

The Board approved an ordinance authorizing the placement of two stop signs at the intersection of 162nd and Ellis.

The Board authorized the purchase of property at 16114 South Park Avenue for the continued development of Town Center.

The Board authorized the transfer of property on the corner of Route 6 and South Park Avenue to the Bradford Group.

The Board approved an ordinance amending Chapter 6 of the Municipal Buildings and Building Regulations Codes and Appendix C regarding Building Permit Fees to be consistent with the International Building Codes.

The Board approved the Teamsters Union contract and Memorandum of Understanding.

The Board approved an authorization to execute a demolition contract for the former Knights Inn on Halsted Street.

The Board approved a Resolution granting easements to ComEd.
