based on the January 9, 2006 meeting.

Board
Meetings are usually held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month
at Village Hall.
The next meeting will take place on Monday,
January 23, 2006 at 8:00PM
at Village Hall.
Dr King's legacy celebrated through inspirational presentations and music
Trustee Doorn encouraged residents to join the Village Board and Administration for the Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration on January 16, 10:00am at Thornwood High School. The event, themed "Celebrating the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King: The Man, The Dream, Our Responsibility," will feature a keynote address by Rev. Dr. Ozzie Smith Jr., Pastor of Covenant United Church of Christ, and presentations by students from School Districts 150, 151, and 205, as well as students from Calvary Academy and Calvin Christian School. Additionally, music selections will be provided by Rev. Alfonso Surrett, Pastor of Calvary Reformed Church and Walter and Pamela Stallings, founders of the Chords of Gold gospel choir. Also participating in the event are Mayor Don De Graff, Rev. Dr. Carl E. King of Christ Community Church, Rev. Jeanne Kumbalek of United Presbyterian Church and Pastor Georgia Ayala of Living Word Training Center South (formerly Life Builders International Church).
Parks and Recreation
Trustee Bennett announced that registration for winter programs will continue at the Community Center during business hours. Most programs will begin the week of January 16.
The Walking Club held their Annual Holiday Party on January 4 at the Community Center. Good food and fellowship were enjoyed by all.
Ingalls Memorial Hospital is sponsoring a preventative screening program by LifeLine Screening at the Community Center on Tuesday, January 24. The tests are fast and accurate, providing results for you to review with your personal physician. For more information or to make an appointment, call 1-800-324-1851.
Community Development
The Board approved Building Permits No. 2006-0001 through 2006-0008, representing $104,599 of investment in the community. Included in those permits, are demolition of buildings behind Wallpaper Galore in preparation for expansion of the store.
Other Notables:
Reverend Heino Blaauw from Peace Christian Reformed Church opened the meeting with prayer.
The Village Clerk, Sallie Penman, read a Proclamation declaring January 16, 2006 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day in the Village of South Holland. The Board encouraged all residents to reflect upon the positive impact Dr. King has had on our society.
The Board approved Register No. 528 for $580,556.16 and No. 529 for $907,875.90, covering day-to-day operations, vendor payments, and salaries.
Engineers Report: The Board approved the annual Motor Fuel Tax Funding Resolution for street maintenance.
