Village Board,
based on the December 19, 2005 meeting.

Board
Meetings are usually held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month
at Village Hall.
The next meeting will take place on Monday,
January 9, 2006 at 8:00PM
at Village Hall.

After nearly 11 years of service, Trustee Jim Veld (top)
retired from the Board. The Board then unanimously approved the appointment of Dr. John Sullivan, who was sworn in to service by Village Attorney Tim Lapp, to fulfill the unexpired term of Veld. Sullivan, a local dentist and pastor of Spirit of God Fellowship, has lived in South Holland for more than 40 years. |

The Village of South Holland will host its 2nd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Program on January 16, 10:00am at Thornwood High School. The Board invites all residents to attend.
Parks and Recreation
Trustee Bennett announced that residents can enjoy outdoor fun this winter at the ice rinks at four of our community's parks: Veterans, Van-O, Municipal, and Thorn Creek.
The Park Maintenance staff is redoing the landscaping at the south entrance of Veterans Park.
The South Holland Community Center will be closed on Sunday, December 25 in observance of the Christmas holiday, and Sunday, January 1 in observance of the New Year holiday.
Public Works
The Board approved a contract for environmental clean-up at the former South Holland Mobil site, 16073 South Park Avenue.
The Board approved agreements with low bidders Smitty's Excavating and Holland Asphallt for the demolition of ten parcels in the Town Center District.
Community Development
The Board approved Building Permits No. 2005-1441 through 2005-1466, representing $592,104 of investment in the community. Included in those permits, according to Trustee De Young, is a new home permit at The Preserves of South Holland, demolition of the old Pontiac dealership on Route 6 and Ellis Avenue, and a building addition for Asko Metals.
The Board approved a Conditional Use Permit for Southeast Church of Christ to locate at Route 6 and Vincennes.
The Board passed a Class 6B resolution for Hamilton Pertners to build a 200,000 square foot furniture warehouse which would provide an additional 25 jobs for the community.
Other Notables:
Reverend Ben Tol from First Christian Reformed Church opened the meeting with prayer.
The Board approved seven tax abatement resolutions.
The Board approved three ordinances related to the second amendment of the Route 6 TIF District.
The Board authorized the purchase of property at 230 E 162nd Street for the continued Town Center Development.
The Board authorized the sale of village-owned properties to Covenant Development, Ltd. for the construction of the first seven brownstones at 160th Place near Veterans Park.
The Board approved an ordinance suspending the Emergency Telephone System Board once the new dispatch center (E-Com) becomes operational.
The Board approved Register No. 527 for $4,461,151.69, covering day-to-day operations, vendor payments, and salaries.
