Village Board,
based on the November 21, 2005 meeting.

Board
Meetings are usually held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month
at Village Hall.
The next meeting will take place on Monday,
December 5, 2005 at 8:00PM
at Village Hall.
Community Coordination
Trustee Doorn encouraged residents to participate in the 5th Annual Holiday Lights Contest, hosted by the Neighborhood Groups Committee. Each contest entry must consist of 6 homes or more. Judging will take place December 12 through December 17. Entry forms, which will be accepted until December 9, are available in the November issue of South Holland Today as well as Village Hall.
Santa Claus is coming to town on Friday, December 2 at 7:00pm at the Village Hall. The even will also feature a tree lighting ceremony as well as hot chocolate and coffee from Starbucks. Thornton Township's tree lighting ceremony will also take place that evening.
The next Mayor's Coffee is December 6 at 7:30am at the Village Hall. Refreshments will be provided by the new Wild Bean Cafe located in BP Amoco at 162nd Street and Ellis Avenue.
Parks and Recreation
Trustee Bennett was pleased to report that the Lions Chili Supper, held Wednesday, November 16 at the Community Center, was a great success.
Due to inclement weather last week, the installation of the new playground equipment at Veterans park was delayed. The project has resumed and will be completed shortly.
Winter program books are scheduled to be mailed to South Holland residents the week of December 19, 2005. Registration is planned for January 5 - 7, 2006.
Santa will be working with the Parks and Recreation Department to call all the good boys and girls in South Holland for Christmas. Santa will call children up to the age of 8 years on December 6 and 7 between 6:30pm and 7:30pm. Parents and guardians must pre-register for the call no later than December 5.
Community Development
The Board approved Building Permits No. 2005-1320 through 2005-1401, representing $5,738,000 of investment in the community. Included in those permits, according to Trustee De Young, are 13 new home permits at the new Preserves of South Holland development, as well as remodeling for Just Tires-Goodyear on West 162nd Street.
Other Notables:
Reverend Heino Blaauw opened the meeting with prayer.
The Board held a public hearing for an expansion of the Route 6/South Park TIF that would take in ten additional parcels.
The Board approved an amendment to the sign ordinance to include non-commercial signs and a provision for an appeal process in the event that an application is denied.
The Board approved Register No. 524 for $1,399,017.59, covering day-to-day operations, vendor payments, and salaries.
Village engineer, Pat Barker, reported that a public meeting will be held on December 6 at 7:00pm at the Community Center to discuss a preliminary study for the improvements of 170th Street between Prince Drive and South Park Avenue.
