based on the November 7, 2005 meeting.

Board Meetings are usually held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month at Village Hall.
The next meeting will take place on
Monday, November 21, 2005 at 8:00PM at Village Hall.


Community Coordination

Trustee Doorn announced that the Neighborhood Groups Committee is holding its 5th Annual Holiday Lights Contest.  Each contest entry must consist of 6 homes or more.  Judging will take place December 12 through December 17.  Entry forms can be picked up at the Village Hall, and muct be turned in by December 9.

Santa Claus is coming to town on Friday, December 2 at 7:00pm at the Village Hall.  Lighting of the Village's Christmas tree will take place just after Santa arrives, and hot chocolate will be served by Starbucks.  Thornton Township's tree lighting ceremony will take place that same evening.

All residents are encouraged to attend the South Holland Ministerial Association's Community Praise Concert to be held December 11 at 7:30pm at Spirit of God Fellowship Hall located at 16350 State Street.

Residents are encouraged to participate in the next Village blood drive to be held at the Village Hall on Friday, December 2 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.

Residents can come and meet Mayor Don A. DeGraff at the next Mayor's Coffee being held at the Village Hall on Tuesday, December 6 at 7:30am.

Parks and Recreation

Trustee Bennett announced that the Harvest Fest, held on October 27, was a huge success.  Nearly 200 children participated in the activities, with 13 winners for the best costumes.

The new playground structure in Veterans Park is nearly complete.  The stat-of-the-art structure is sure to be enjoyed by the children of South Holland for many years to come.

The new equipment in the Fitness Center has received rave reviews from members.  The new elliptical machines and the Smith machine are extremely popular.

Finance

The Board approved Register No. 522 for $1,451,913.88 and No. 523 for $721,342.18, covering day-to-day operations, vendor payments, and salaries.

Community Development

The Board approved Building Permits No. 2005-1217 through 2005-1319, representing $542,668 of investment in the community.  Included in those permits, according to Trustee De Young, is a new MRI facility for LaSalle Office Park, new fuel dispensers for Marathon, a new addition for Carl Buddig, a new sign for River Oaks Community Church, and four possible rebates for flood proofing repairs.

Other Notables:

Pastor Pete Tassio from King's Community Church opened the meeting with prayer.

The Board approved an amendment to the Planned Unit Development (PUD) ordinance to include all development projects in Town Center.  This gives the Village increased oversight of all new development projects within Town Center.  In addition, the Board approved the Brownstones as the first PUD in Town Center.

The Board approved a Class 6B renewal resolution for All Steel Structures.

The Board authorized an intergovernmental agreement for combined dispatch with Homewood, Hazel Crest, Flossmoor, and Glenwood.

The Board approved an ordinance authorizing the execution of the Illinois Municipal League Risk Management Insurance contribution agreement.

The Board approved an amendment to the Village Code Section 7-65.1 to cover both flammable and combustible liquids to meet the requirements of the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
