Village Board,
based on the October 17, 2005 meeting.
Residents desiring to see a complete record of the Village Board meetings can request

Board
Meetings are usually held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month
at Village Hall.
The next meeting will take place on Monday,
November 7, 2005 at 8:00PM
at Village Hall.
New appointments for the Planning and Development Commission
Trustee DeYoung congratulated Rasheed Bonds and Tim Smits for their appointments to the Planning and Development Commission. Bonds fills a vacancy on the Commission, while Smits, a 12-year veteran of the Commission, was appointed Chairman of the Commission.
Community Coordination
Trustee Doorn announced that the trick-or-treating hours for South Holland residents will be from 3:30pm to 6:30pm on Monday, October 31st.
There will be a ceremony honoring our nation's veterans on November 11 at 11:00am at Veterans Park by the monument, followed by a gethering at Thornton Township Hall from 11:30am to 12:30pm.
Parks and Recreation
Trustee Bennett announced that there are only 13 tickets left for South Holland Night with the Chicago Bulls. The season-opening game will be held on Wednesday, November 2, at 7:30pm. Tickets are discounted for South Holland residents at $28. Transportation will not be provided by the Village this year.
Public Safety
The Board authorized the hiring of a police officer from the eligibility list to fill a vacancy.
Public Works
Trustee James announced that branch pick-up will suspend for the winter, effective October 31, so that the Public Works Department can prepare the trucks for snow removal.
Community Development
The Board approved Building Permits No. 2005-1147 through 2005-1216, representing $378,242 of investment in the community. Included in those permits, according to Trustee De Young, are signage for Illinois Transport and steeple and roof repairs for Thorn Creek Reformed Church.
Finance
The Board approved Register No. 521 for $2,287,790.52, covering day-to-day operations, vendor payments, and salaries.
Other Notables:
Pastor Georgina Ayala of Living Word Training Center South (formerly Life Builders International) opened the meeting with prayer.
The Board held a public hearing regarding the acceptance of credit cards as payment for authorized obligations.
The Board approved a Map Amendment to re-zone property located at Sibley & Riverside from single-family residential to local business.
The Board approved Class 6B Resolutions for Armil/CFS and Austin Diversified.
The Board approved an ordinance to vacate portions of LaSalle, Clark, and Dearborn Streets at 147th and 148th.
The Board approved an ordinance authorizing the transfer of property located at 147th Street to a developer to build additional homes in the Morningside subdivision.
The Board approved a conditional use permit for operation of the Moving Up Foundation.
The Board approved the final plat of subdivision for Phase II of the Preserves of South Holland.
The Board approved the re-subdivision of the northeast corner of Armory and Vincennes.
The Board approved a real estate sales agreement for lots A and B of the Brownstones in Town Center.
