The Board also accepted the low bid of $150,488.65 from Gallagher Asphalt for the resurfacing portion of the project.
Community Development
The Board approved Building Permits No. 2004-172 through 2004-241. Included in those permits, according to Trustee DeYoung, are the demolition of Burger King and a new home valued at $410,000.
Other Notables:
Chaplain Hank Elgersma from the Holland Home opened the meeting in prayer.
The Board approved a resolution for Class 6B status for Best Built Fabricating to expand its business by 1,900 sq. ft. This is their third expansion in five years.
The Board approved a resolution to submit a no-cash bid application to Cook County for vacant parcels available to South Holland, located on Sibley and State Street, to be developed into residential property. Special corporation counsel was appointed to handle such transactions.
The Board approved an amendment to the Village Code for increases in fees for paramedic calls (in keeping with Medicare allowances), as well as an increase in garbage collection charges. To keep up with the escalating cost of garbage collection, residents will now pay $5 more for garbage collection starting May 2004. The new rate is still one of the lowest in the Chicago Southland region.
