Village Board,
based on the March 15, 2004 meeting.
Residents desiring to see a complete record of the Village Board meetings can request
copies of the meeting minutes from the Village Clerk's office in the Municipal building.

Meetings are usually held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month
at Village Hall.

2004 at 8:00PM
Parks & Recreation
Trustee Bennett reported that membership at the South Holland Fitness Center continues to climb. In the month of February, membership increased by 115, bringing the total number of members to date to 1,382.
Sign-ups for the annual Easter Egg Hunt are now being accepted the the Community Center. The hunt will take place Saturday, April 3, 2004, rain or shine, for children between the ages of 1 through 10.
The 17th Annual Golf Tour begins May 1, 2004 and registration is now taking place at the Community Center. For more information call 331-2940.
Trustee Bennett announced that the South Holland Community Center was awarded
a $200 grant from the Arthritis Foundation to be used for additional staff
training.
Community Development
The Board approved Building Permits No. 2004-78 through 2004-109.
Trustee DeYoung reported the permits covered such things as signage for the Red
Carpet store in Pacesetter Shopping Center and a new home in the Morningside
Subdivision valued at $355,000.
Attorney's Report
The Boad approved the re-subdivision of the Pacesetter Shopping Center for
tax purposes.
A Friend Remembered
Mayor DeGraff announced the recent untimely death of Tim Novak. Tim
performed custodial work for the Village. The Mayor asked that we all keep
the Novak family in our prayers during this difficult time.
Community Coordination
Trustee Doorn read a letter of thanks from Rev. Heino Blaauw of First
Reformed Church, commending the Village for its support of the church's recent
History Exhibit "Dream & Do" during Black History Month.
According to Blaauw, "I'm glad to be serving a church in a village with the
kind of vision that South Holland's administration has. May God continue
to bless your work."
Other Notables:
A public hearing was opened for the proposed Combined Sewer Operation & Maintenance Plan covering sewer overflow into the Little Calumet River and closed with no comments from the public.
Mayor Don DeGraff opened the meeting in prayer.
The Board approved Village Administrator Rich Zimmerman as Clerk protem in the absence of Village Clerk Ruth DeVries.
The Board approved Register No. 463 in the amount of $811,837.49 covering day-to-day operations, vendor payments, and salaries.
The Board approved a resolution for the 2004 Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) Maintenance in the amount of $690,000.
The Board approved a housekeeping matter with a supplemental resolution for the MFT Maintenance from 1995 in the amount of $2,166.48
