Village Board,
based on the March 1, 2004 meeting.
Residents desiring to see a complete record of the Village Board meetings can request
copies of the meeting minutes from the Village Clerk's office in the Municipal building.

Meetings are usually held at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month
at Village Hall.
The next meeting will take place on March 15,
2004 at 8:00PM
South Holland Jets
A representative from the South Holland Jets, John Watson, was on hand to
present the Village with an Award of Appreciation for its continued
support. He wanted everyone to know that their first "Fill the
Helmet" fundraiser was a big success. It allowed the organization to
purchase new uniforms for their cheerleaders.
Parks & Recreation
Trustee Bennett reported that the new generator is up and running at the Community Center. The Center is now equipped as an Emergency Center when our residents are displaced due to extreme weather conditions.
He also reminded everyone that applications are still being accepted for the annual Memorial Day Parade which is scheduled for May 31, 2004.
Sign-ups for the annual Easter Egg Hunt will be accepted at the Community
Center beginning March 1, 2004.
Community Coordination
Trustee Doorn requested and received Board approval to adopt the Village's Equal Employment Opportunity and Service Equity Plan (Sections I, II, and III).
She also announced the next Mayor's Coffee will be held on March 4, 2004 at 7:00pm at the Community Center.
A resident was on hand to congratulate the Public Works department for a
great job in handling a recent water main break.
Community Development
The Board approved Building Permits No. 2004-45 through 2004-77.
Trustee DeYoung said the permits include signage for Splish-Splash Car Wash on
170th Street, exterior lighting for Washington Mutual located east 162nd Street,
build out for a new tenant at 154th & South park, and two new Morningside
homes valued around $400,000.
Other Notables:
Father Cabala from St. Jude Church opened the meeting in prayer.
The Board approved the Memorial Day Parade Resolution closing South Park Avenue from 170th to 158th during the hours of 11am to 12:30pm on Monday, May 31, 2004.
The Board approved Register No. 461 in the amount of $557,019.81 and Register No. 462 in the amount of $250,775.58 covering day-to-day operations, vendor payments, and salaries.
The Board approved a resolution amending the South Suburban Airport Intergovernmental Agreement for the third airport.
The Board approved a resolution proclaiming March 7 - 13 Girl Scouts Week in the Village of South Holland.
The Board approved a resolution for a 5 year lease agreement with VoiceStream to place an antenna on the water tower at Van Dam Road.
