2008 Season Preview for South Holland Municipal Band Rehearsals for the 65th season for the South Holland Band will begin on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 7 pm at South Holland's Faith Family Future Center on the Northeast corner of 170th Street and South Park Avenue. All of our concerts will again begin at 7:00pm this season. On Memorial Day, we will take part in the parade and also in the program at Veterans Park at the end of the parade (there is no longer a service at Riverside Park in the morning). Our "home stage" will be the existing bandstand at Veterans Park. In addition, we will be returning to the Holland Home for two performances. Our season will again conclude with the Labor Day Paarlberg Fest (part of the Heritage Festival) on Monday, September 1 at Paarlberg Park. Our upcoming schedule of rehearsals and performances can be seen on the Schedule page. Please inform your section leader and the director if you will not be attending a concert. If you have plans not to be at a concert or rehearsal, please indicate this on the absence sheet at the sign-in stand and leave your music folder with the band. If your attendance cannot be regular, please do not take the music home with you. Be thoughtful to your section members who will be trying to cover all the parts in your absence. Uniforms for performances remain unchanged: red shirt, white pants, white shoes, white socks. Uniform shirts and jackets will be distributed at the first rehearsal (jackets optional), with the option to purchase your own. White pants (not tan or khaki) and white shoes/socks remain the band member's responsibility. If you've had difficulty finding white pants, you might wish to try a uniform store. We have made one update to our shirt return policy, in an attempt to avoid late (or non) returns: If your shirt is not turned in by the afternoon of our last performance (Labor Day), the replacement cost of $15 will be deducted from your check. Our audition/referral policy (revised 2006) is attached below, in case you are or know of a prospective new member. We hope to see many familiar and many new faces this year - please consider whom you can invite! We are looking forward to our 65th season and hope to see you there!
